Everton join growing list of clubs in race for out-of-favor Manchester City star

Everton’s summer has taken on a serious urgency as David Moyes looks to rebuild a team that can compete rather than simply survive in the Premier League.

The first signs of Toffees' rebuild are already visible, with the club closing in on a £9m [$12m] deal for 19-year-old Bayern Munich left-back Adam Aznou.

The club has also been active in the market for players like Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney although Ipswich Town are currently ahead in negotiations and they narrowly lost Liam Delap to Chelsea while still trying to persuade Lyon winger Malick Fofana to make the move to Merseyside.

The Toffees have now shifted their focus to the Etihad Stadium as they pursue their next major target.

Everton target Manchester City outcast

Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish

According to The i Paper, Everton are interested in signing Manchester City winger Jack Grealish on loan.

Moyes is a long-time admirer and believes the 29-year-old would become the main man at Goodison Park.

Grealish has struggled since his £100 million move from Aston Villa, scoring only 17 goals in 157 matches and just one in the Premier League last season.

Pep Guardiola  recently explained why City are open to letting him leave,

“He had a conversation with the club and they decided it was best.”

“Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason why he did not play last season is of course my decisions.”

“We decide that he has to play. The club was honest, he was honest."

"We decide that the best thing is to stay behind and have a place that he can feel like he can come back to be the player like he was in the year of the Treble or all his career in Aston Villa.”

At the moment Everton are waiting to find out what City want and if they prefer to sell him permanently.

Grealish has also drawn interest from Premier League club West Ham as well as Serie A side Napoli.
