ESPN reporter fights for her life in battle with rogue beetle at LA Rams camp

Myles Garrett somehow wasn’t the scariest thing at Rams camp this week.

A giant beetle briefly turned ESPN reporter Lindsey Thiry’s visit to the practice field in Los Angeles on Thursday into a nightmare.

As the journalist was getting ready to go live on air for a segment on the 2026 Rams from their workout at Loyola Marymount University, a flying beetle suddenly entered the frame and caused chaos.

Thiry tried to swat it away initially, but when the insect followed relentlessly, she turned to her microphone to get it out of her hair.

She repeatedly took aim at the critter, and after a few hectic seconds was mercifully able to bat it to the ground.

Thriy went on to do her report without further issue, though ESPN’s in-studio host Molly McGrath had some fun at her expense by showing a replay of her beetle battle to their viewers.

“What is that?” McGrath said as the video played. “A wasp?”

Thiry explained it “was the biggest bug I’ve ever seen,” before patting herself on the back for the “hand-eye coordination” it took to rid herself of the inset.

It’s not the first time a winged invader has made life miserable for a reporter in Los Angeles this summer — as KTLA’s Rachel Menitoff had to deal with a flying cockroach during a live shot in July.
