Before the Detroit Lions drafted offensive tackle Blake Miller in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, they had a trade offer on the table to move up in Round 1.
This was revealed in the ESPN documentary "The Pick Is In."
The offer was to the Baltimore Ravens and saw the Lions offer pick Nos. 17 and 118 (fourth round), and a 2027 third-round pick for the No. 14 pick.
Baltimore looked to be ready to take the offer, but the Lions decided to pull it when the Ravens were on the clock.
Because the Lions pulled the offer after offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor was picked in the No. 12 spot by the Miami Dolphins, the belief is that the Lions were aiming for the Alabama product.
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) May 18, 2026According to the Jimmy Johnson Trade Value Chart, the Ravens' No. 14 pick was worth 1,100 points, while the two 2026 selections of the Lions were offering were worth 1,038. Third-round picks are valued at anywhere from 265 to 100 points, so Detroit would have been overpaying to move up.
Along with taking Miller in Round 1, the Lions used that No. 118 overall pick on Michigan linebacker Jimmy Rolder.
Now, the expectation is Miller will get the nod at right tackle in 2026 and Detroit will move Penei Sewell over to the left side to replace Taylor Decker, who asked for and was granted his release earlier this offseason.
