ESPN analyst makes bold Colts' Quenton Nelson Hall of Fame prediction ahead of year nine

The Indianapolis Colts have had plenty of legendary players come through their organization, including Jeff Saturday, the Hall of Fame interior offensive lineman.

In today's game, the Colts might not be as elite as they once were with Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck, but there's been one constant the last eight years, and it's been Quenton Nelson. He's been about as great an interior lineman as a team could ask for.

ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell, heading into the 2026 NFL season and Nelson's ninth year in the league, predicted that the Colts' offensive guard has already made his mark enough in his career to earn a Hall of Fame nod if he retired right now.

Quenton Nelson is already predicted to be a Hall of Famer

"In: G Quenton Nelson," Barnwell writes. "Nelson is in the prestigious club of players to start their career with eight consecutive Pro Bowl appearances. Every Hall-eligible player to do that has been enshrined."

Nelson's feat of eight straight years of making the Pro Bowl is an incredible way to etch his name in NFL history and make a strong case for the Hall of Fame.

But Barnwell believes he's not just made a strong case, but that his case should be closed, and he should enter the Hall of Fame the moment he's eligible.

"A ninth consecutive Pro Bowl wouldn't hurt Nelson's chances... but even as an interior lineman, he has likely already done enough to get in," Barnwell writes.

Interior offensive linemen typically don't receive a lot of fanfare. At least centers snap the ball to the quarterback. Nelson, a guard, isn't lined up outside like offensive tackles, nor does he snap the ball to the QB.

Offensive guard might be one of the least heralded positions in the NFL, but Nelson has garnered a ton of attention as he's been one of the best guards in the league for a long time now.

Eight Pro Bowl nods since being drafted in 2018. He's made 129 starts since that season, missing only a few games during the 2021 campaign. He's a three-time first-team All-Pro and three-time second-team All-Pro.

At 30 years old, Nelson is still one of the best offensive guards in the league, and he's earned himself plenty of accolades in his career.

Barnwell believes Nelson has done enough to earn a spot in the Hall of Fame. It's a bold belief, but considering all that he's done, Barnwell might be right, and Nelson might have already punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame, and the rest is just icing on the cake.
