Eagles vs. Commanders DFS Picks: Best DraftKings, FanDuel lineups, and props for TNF primetime showdown

12 hours ago 1

It's a divisional matchup between seven-win teams in the NFC playoff hunt. It's a duel between MVP candidate Jalen Hurts and Rookie of the Year favorite Jayden Daniels. Tonight's Eagles vs. Commanders game on Thursday Night Football is one of the better primetime showdowns of the season (8:15 p.m. ET, Amazon).

With a 48.5-point over/under, sportsbooks agree that this one should be good. And naturally, with a super-solid standalone NFC East matchup, DFS tournaments have been buzzing with activity. If you're assembling a lineup of your own for this evening, the Sporting News has advice, strategy, studs and sleepers for you to consider.

The Eagles have been on one of their legendary rolls. They have broken off five straight wins, during which they have outscored opponents 147-65. Hurts is playing MVP-caliber football, Saquon Barkley looks like the Offensive Player of the Year, and A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert are all healthy.

The Commanders, meanwhile, are also pretty damn good. Their narrow 1-point loss to a tough Pittsburgh squad last week broke up a 3-game winning streak and 7-1 stretch. Daniels has been phenomenal under center. Austin Ekeler is once again awesome. Terry McLaurin has returned to wide receiver glory.

This should be a fantastic game, so let's get right to our optimal lineups. Here's our advice for DraftKings, FanDuel, and SuperDraft squads ahead of the Eagles vs. Commanders on Thursday Night Football.

Eagles vs. Commanders NFL DFS picks: Optimal DraftKings lineup

Before we get into our lineup and strategy, here are the key scoring settings for DraftKings Showdown contests: They're full-point PPR, and they feature three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player's original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

FLEXJayden Daniels, QBWash. @ PHI$10,400
FLEXAJ Brown, WREagles vs. WAS$10,000
FLEXTerry McLaurin, WRWash. @ PHI$9,000
FLEXJeremy McNichols, RB Wash. @ PHI$2,800
FLEXLuke McCaffrey, WRWash. @ PHI$1,200

Captain: Jalen Hurts, QB, Eagles ($16,500)

Picking a Captain for this one turned out to be pretty easy. Hurts averages 24.3 DK points per game (PPG), and he has averaged 32.2 PPG over the past three weeks. Washington has also surrendered the 12th-most DK PPG to QBs this season, so we're all in on the stud signal-caller at home in primetime.

FLEX 1: Jayden Daniels, QB, Commanders ($10,400)

It's a classic duel between MVP and Rookie of the Year candidates, and it should be damn good. We don't want to leave either of these dudes in the player pool, even though Daniels is coming off one of the worst performances of his young career. He still averages 19.5 DK PPG, and road contests have not slowed him down (28 at Cincy, 25 at Arizona, 21 at Baltimore, 20 at NY Giants). Fire him up.

FLEX 2: A.J. Brown, WR, Eagles ($10,000)

In Philadelphia's primetime affairs, we stack Hurts with Brown when Brown's healthy. It's simple — he's the No. 1 target in a high-flying offense in what should be a close matchup. Brown's also coming off one of his better showings in weeks, having put up 18.9 DK points in Dallas. That's right around his average (18.4), but his ceiling remains closer to 30.

FLEX 3: Terry McLaurin, WR, Commanders ($9,000)

McLaurin has enjoyed a career resurgence thanks to Daniels, as the two have developed a fantastic rapport all season. TMC averages 16.5 PPG, and last week was his fifth outing with 18-plus points. He has five games with 98-plus receiving yards and six TDs on the season. It's a second strong stack in what's shaping up to be a super-solid lineup.

FLEX 4: Jeremy McNichols, RB, Commanders ($2,800)

We have reached the 'sleepers' part of our 'stars-and-sleepers' build! McNichols has vultured four TDs from Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson this season, during which he has a 10-point game and a 20-point game on record. He also put up 6.7 points last week in a narrow Commanders loss to Pittsburgh, so we like his odds of doing something positive, even if Robinson returns from injury this evening.

FLEX 5: Luke McCaffrey, WR, Commanders ($1,200)

Somebody random always seems to score in primetime games, so we're putting our last remaining chips on CMC's brother to be the dark-horse breakout. He hauled in a 23-yard reception on three targets last week, so it's not as if this is a complete dart throw. Let's go, baby CMC!

Eagles vs. Commanders NFL DFS picks: Optimal FanDuel lineup

Here are the key scoring settings for FanDuel single-game tournaments: They're half-point PPR with three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, or 100 receiving yards. The MVP pick multiplies that player's total by 1.5 but does not cost 1.5 times their listed salary.

MVP    A.J. Brown, WREagles vs. WAS$13,000
FLEXJalen Hurts, QBEagles vs. WAS$15,000
FLEXTerry McLaurin, WRWash. at PHI$12,500
FLEXAustin Ekeler, RBWash. at PHI$10,000
FLEXDallas Goedert, TEEagles vs. WAS$9,500

We went with a bit of a hedge with our FanDuel lineup, leaning more heavily into each team's running game by adding TD monster Ekeler. We also took Goedert here as he's finally healthy and always has red-zone upside. And since QBs have less value on FanDuel, we stuck AJB in our MVP chair as opposed to one of the QBs.

Eagles vs. Commanders NFL DFS picks: Optimal SuperDraft lineup

For those unfamiliar, SuperDraft's DFS scoring involves point multipliers as opposed to traditional salary-capped or tiered contests. A winning lineup will likely feature a strong mix of stud fantasy contributors with 1x-1.6x boosts, as well as matchup-based sleepers with larger multipliers. Each player is assigned a scoring multiplier based on their value as determined by SuperDraft. Users can roster any player in their lineup with no restrictions.

Here are the most notable scoring rules for SuperDraft NFL contests: Half-point PPRfour-point passing TDs, and two-point bonuses for 100 rushing yards100 receiving yardsand 300 passing yards. SuperDraft lineups feature no D/ST position. The "Champ" position adds a 50-percent boost to the selected player, while the SuperFlex positions are limited to the boost listed for each player.

MORE SUPERDRAFT DFS: How to play SuperDraft

Our SuperDraft lineup combines many of our favorite fantasy elements from our DK and FD lineups, but we couldn't pass on Ertz at the back-end of our lineup at 1.6x. He's facing his old team and always manages to make an impact in big games under the primetime lights. Here's hoping he pays off and ends up being the cherry on top of a solid TNF entry!
