Eagles predicted to land 7 in NFL Top 100 Players poll, but none listed so far

15 hours ago 1

The NFL continues to roll out the results of its annual Top 100 Players poll, which for 2025 was voted on by current players, most likely during the final two months of the regular season.

The league has been releasing this year’s list in waves of 10, with Nos. 100 through 71 the only players to be announced thus far.

Surprisingly, the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have yet to see one of their players listed out of the 29 announcements so far. It’s still early, but the only link to last year’s star-studded Super Bowl roster so far is EDGE Josh Sweat (No. 95), who now plays for Jonathan Gannon and the Arizona Cardinals.

In the end, Philly should be among the clubhouse leaders in total players listed in the top 100. Otherwise, the NFL will need to take a serious look at its current process, which polls players by asking them to list their top 20 players overall. Players are then awarded points accordingly, and the top 100 list is compiled from those results.

Using Eagles insider Anthony DiBona’s predictions from June on The Philly Special Show, we can identify seven “locks” who should end up being announced somewhere inside the top 70. The NFL will announce its top 10 during a Sept. 1 special on NFL Network.

Based on the information we have so far, here’s a projection of the Eagles’ potential snubs and virtual locks for the NFL Top 100 Players List of 2025:

Potential snubs

WR DeVonta Smith

DiBona’s prediction: Not ranked

Philly’s star No. 2 wide out made the 2024 list, coming in at No. 90. He’ll likely fall off after seeing a career-low 89 targets last season. That’s not all Smith’s fault. He missed time due to a brutal concussion on a dirty hit by the Saints’ Khristian Boyd. Smith’s lower volume can also be attributed to an offense that attempted the fewest passes in the NFL. Smith is easily one of the league's top 100 players, but that likely won’t be reflected in this year’s list.

LG Landon Dickerson

DiBona’s prediction: No. 86

You can almost feel this one coming, as Dickerson was left off of last year’s list and likely would have debuted inside these first 29 announcements if he made it for 2025. As Eagles fans know, he’s a warrior and consistent performer who deserves more credit. DiBona had him debuting at No. 86, and Pete Prisco listed Dickerson at No. 72 on his annual list for CBS Sports. Unless he surprises with a debut inside the top 70, Dickerson will be among this year’s biggest snubs.

CB Cooper DeJean

DiBona’s prediction: No. 94

This one’s tough, as DeJean would likely have a better case for this list had he not suffered an offseason hamstring injury that affected his reps during training camp. It took time (probably too much time, if we’re being honest) for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to finally cave and promote DeJean to the starting nickel corner role over struggling veteran Avonte Maddox. But things clicked almost immediately, with DeJean settling into a prominent role on defense from Week 6 forward and ultimately grading out as PFF’s No. 1 overall cornerback from the 2024 season. The sky’s the limit for Philly’s second-round steal, but he’s likely getting snubbed on the NFL’s top 100 list this year due to that shortened sample size.

Projected locks

DT Jalen Carter

DiBona’s prediction: No. 58

Carter’s presence shines through more on the field than it does in the box score, and his peers will certainly reward him in this year's Top 100 rankings. Philly’s star 24-year-old defensive tackle was an absolute force as an interior pass rusher in 2024, and if he can improve in run defense coming up in Year 3, the Eagles could have the top all-around defensive tackle in the game on their roster in short order.

LT Jordan Mailata

DiBona’s prediction: No. 40

How good was Mailata in 2024? PFF ranked him as their No. 1 offensive tackle in football — including players on the left and right sides — and Prisco tabbed him as the 13th-best overall player in the league for CBS Sports. The Eagles have found a stud at one of the game’s most difficult (and important) positions, and he was a former seventh-round pick. The respect has been flowing Mailata’s way this offseason, and that will continue in the NFL Top 100 of 2025.

LB Zack Baun

DiBona’s prediction: No. 33

Baun’s ascension from relative unknown to first-team All-Pro was one of the best stories of the 2024 NFL season. Baun was particularly dominant from Week 7 on, and after closing the regular season with Defensive Player of the Year worthy numbers like 151 total tackles, 93 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks and five forced fumbles, he’ll make his debut on this year’s Top 100 list, likely somewhere inside the top 50.

WR A.J. Brown

DiBona’s prediction: No. 25

Brown came in at No. 21 last season, and it would make sense for him to drop a few spots after a sub-par statistical season by his standards. Per one AFC scout, via ESPN: "He's still awesome," a veteran AFC scout said. "He comes up big when you need him, he's still incredibly strong and fast enough. A nightmare to tackle. Maybe a tad slower than he was, but that's slight." Brown remains a legitimate top-five NFL wide receiver and should once again be well represented by his peers.

RT Lane Johnson

DiBona’s prediction: No. 21

Johnson came in at No. 41 overall last year, but a major spike in votes is likely coming. Johnson had one of the most dominant seasons of his career in 2024, and he did it at age 34. The respect for Philly’s All-Pro right tackle is widespread and will definitely be reflected in these player rankings.

QB Jalen Hurts

DiBona’s prediction: No. 18

Hurts was definitely snubbed this week’s in ESPN’s poll of league executives, scouts and coaches, coming in as the ninth-best QB in football entering 2025. The Eagles (and their fans) have a much different opinion about the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and players around the league do, too. Hurts came in at No. 15 on last year’s list, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him remain inside the top 20, despite the public outrage over Philly’s low-volume 2024 passing attack.

RB Saquon Barkley

DiBona’s prediction: No. 3

Most of the slander around Hurts, Brown, Smith and Philly’s passing stats in 2024 was due to one of the biggest free agency steals in NFL history. The Eagles added Barkley for less than the Jaguars paid veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis, and he transformed Philly’s offense with one of the great wire-to-wire performances from a running back the league has ever seen. Barkley came in at No. 86 in last year’s list, following his final season with the Giants. He’ll be among the top risers this time around, and likely won’t hear his name called until the top 10 are announced on Sept. 1.
