Quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are seemingly putting the Philadelphia Eagles' 2025 NFL season at risk. NFL insider Dianna Russini wrote on Saturday that the situation between Hurts and Brown and Smith isn't at its best, explaining that the wide receivers have gotten frustrated with their quarterback.
"After doing some digging and asking people inside the #Eagles building, it was explained that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Jalen Hurts’ approach this season, particularly against zone coverage," Russini wrote, via John McMullen on X. They believe he’s become hesitant in tight windows, leaning on checkdowns or scrambles instead of trusting what’s open downfield."•

This report comes after DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown shared their frustrations with the state of the offense earlier this week. On Tuesday, Smith said the offense didn't feel good at all against the Green Bay Packers.

“Offensively, we don’t feel good at all. Offensively, we need to be better," Smith declared. "The defense is playing their a**foff. We need to help those guys out. We need to be better. That's gonna come. You have your up and down. We have good weeks, we have bad weeks, and this week wasn't one of our best.”A day later, Brown made it clear he's trying to do his best on offense and putting his team in a good position to win rather than collecting individual stats.
"If we're really focused on winning and doing our job, we can't keep slapping the Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble," Brown said. "It's not about, I don't care about winning and all I care about is stats. No! Week after week, we're not contributing, not doing our job on offense."Cam Newton warns Eagles about AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts tensions
As good as Jalen Hurts and Co. are playing this campaign, the Eagles are experiencing internal issues that could affect their performance down the road. Former NFL MVP Cam Newton warned the team about the "ticking bomb" they have on the roster.
"The Philadelphia Eagles is a walking ticking time bomb of dysfunction. It's all in their resume. It's all in the things that they have been trying to do. The Philadelphia Eagles have been masking, putting mascara, putting makeup...so much because they have been winning."This isn't an ideal situation for a team with that collection of talent. However, it seems as though they would have to part ways with some of their stars if nothing improves.
