The Philadelphia Eagles have a type.
Superstar running back Saquon Barkley is known as one of the strongest running backs in the NFL, a squat monster with thighs to prove it.
This offseason, Philly brought in a back whose thighs might be even more like tree trunks.
That's AJ Dillon, the former Boston College and Green Bay Packers RB. And he'll play a key role in Philadelphia.
Dillon is trying to hold off Will Shipley to back up Barkley, and if Barkley were to get hurt, it'd be up to Dillon to ensure the offense doesn't miss a beat.
"Barkley's primary backup in 2024, Kenneth Gainwell is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers," writes ESPN's Tim McManus. "The Eagles subsequently signed Dillon to a one-year deal back in March. He has 2,428 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns in 60 career games but missed all of last season with a neck injury. Dillon will be vying for the No. 2 role along with Will Shipley."

Dillon looked early in his career like he could develop into a star, but that never happened.
Instead, he's trying to prove he still belongs in the league, and if he can do a strong job of backing up Saquon, that'll be a solid notch on his resume.
