Eagles lose three-time Pro Bowler Landon Dickerson in major offensive line blow

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of their most accomplished offensive linemen for at least the next month.

Three-time Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson is expected to be placed on injured reserve because of a right knee injury, sidelining him for a minimum of four games. Dickerson essentially confirmed the decision Monday while discussing his health and disappointing performance in Philadelphia’s season-opening 24-22 victory over the Washington Commanders.

Dickerson didn’t hold back when evaluating his play, admitting that he should not have been on the field while less than 100 percent.

“I was a complete liability,” Dickerson said, adding that he shouldn’t return until he feels healthy enough to properly help the team.

The latest knee problem is reportedly unrelated to the meniscus injury that required surgery in August 2025. Dickerson said his current issue began when a player rolled into his right knee during practice several weeks ago.

He described the injury as a bone bruise and said continuing to absorb contact would prevent it from properly healing.

That makes injured reserve the most logical option for both Dickerson and Philadelphia. Rather than trying to play through another physical issue, the 27-year-old can use the extended absence to recover with the hope of being healthier for the latter portion of the season.

Eagles could turn to young lineman 

Dickerson experienced a similar situation last year. After undergoing meniscus surgery, he returned and appeared in 15 games but later acknowledged that he probably came back too quickly.

Now Philadelphia must determine how to replace a player who has been an important piece of its offensive line.

Drew Kendall could get the first opportunity. The 2025 fifth-round selection from Boston College impressed during the offseason and could step into the starting lineup while Dickerson recovers.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni continues to support his veteran guard, praising Dickerson’s toughness while acknowledging there were areas from Sunday’s performance that needed improvement.

For Philadelphia, the priority is getting Dickerson healthy rather than asking him to fight through another injury.

The Eagles will now have to navigate at least four games without their three-time Pro Bowler protecting the interior of their offensive line.
