The Philadelphia Eagles' most important player wasn't at the White House last month for the recognition of their Super Bowl victory by President Donald Trump.
Superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts was listed as having "scheduling conflicts" by the team. And on Tuesday, speaking with reporters, Hurts clarified that he really was busy.
“I wasn’t available," Hurts said, according to TMZ. "I don’t think that’s pertinent. Everyone who went and was available, they seemed to enjoy themselves."
The heavy majority of the Eagles attended, including star RB Saquon Barkley, who spent time golfing with the President.
Hurts, 26, has developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
During the 2024 regular season, he put up 2,903 passing yards with 18 touchdowns while adding 630 rushing yards and 14 more touchdowns, many of the tush push variety.

Hurts was nearly spotless in the postseason en route to the Lombardi Trophy.
In the NFC Championship game, he led Philly's offense to 55 points while throwing for 246 and a score while rushing for three more TDs.
In the 40-22 Super Bowl win over the two-time defending champion Chiefs, Hurts was 17-for-22 passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 72 yards and a score.
Hurts is in the midst of a five-year, $255 million contract, which currently has him ranked as the 11th-highest paid QB in the NFL. The deal runs through an option in 2028.
The Eagles' quest to repeat will begin with the opening game of the 2025 season on Thursday, Sept. 4, against the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
