Eagles give $68 million contract update to young ascending star on offense

GM Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles continue to reward their top young stars on offense, with center Cam Jurgens becoming the latest in a recent string of multi-year extensions.

Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Eagles have agreed to a four-year, $68 million contract update with Jurgens that will pay him through the 2029 season.

Jurgens joins a contingent of offensive players now signed through at least 2028 in Philly. That list includes Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson and Saquon Barkley, who received a mega extension of his own this offseason. Those players make up eight of Philly’s 11 starters on offense, or 72.7%.

Drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Jurgens was deployed as Philly’s starting right guard in 2023, working in tandem with franchise icon Jason Kelce. The Eagles wasted little time locking up their new franchise center after he started 19 games for the team in 2024, including battling through a back injury in both the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl.

While Roseman and Co. will have future work to do on defense — the newly-minted Zack Baun is their only non-2024 rookie currently signed through the 2027 season — one of the NFL’s best offenses is set for the near future. The only positions currently up for grabs is right guard, tight end and No. 3 wide receiver, and the team could be looking to address some of those spots in this week's NFL Draft.
