The Las Vegas Raiders made a low-key roster move on Tuesday, waiving young quarterback Carter Bradley about a week before the official start of training camp.
Bradley went undrafted out of South Alabama in the 2024 NFL Draft, and spent the majority of his rookie season on the Raiders’ practice squad, so his release will hardly garner national headlines.
His availability is notable in Philadelphia, however, as the Eagles showed some interest in Bradley during last year’s pre-draft process, per insider Anthony DiBona.
There was enough buzz around Bradley to Philly last year that draft analyst Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports mocked him to the Eagles in the sixth round.
The Eagles, of course, passed on drafting a quarterback in that 2024 draft, though, taking late-round fliers at the position has become a Howie Roseman staple. Philly drafted Tanner McKee — who’s set to enter camp as Jalen Hurts’ top backup — with a sixth-round pick in 2023, and they used another Day 3 selection this past April on Syracuse star Kyle McCord.
Bradley, who’s the son of longtime NFL coach and coordinator Gus Bradley, could once again draw some interest from Philadelphia, which has made a series of changes to its QB room this offseason. Along with drafting McCord, the Eagles promoted McKee and swapped Kenny Pickett for former Browns backup Dorian Thompson-Robinson and draft compensation.
With Thompson-Robinson reportedly firmly on the roster bubble, it’s possible that the Eagles look back into the 25-year-old Bradley, who posted 3,300 passing yards and 30 total touchdowns during his first season at South Alabama. If anything, they could give him an extended look this summer before filling out the practice squad.
