Eagles, Bills, Rams named top landing spots for former $150 million starting quarterback

The Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Rams have been linked to a former starting quarterback considering coming out of retirement.

FanSided's Austen Bundy believes the Eagles, Bills, and Rams should look to acquire Derek Carr from the New Orleans Saints to bolster their quarterback depth.

"Let's evaluate the true contenders who don't have to view Carr as a high-priced, high-risk investment. Instead, he's simply a backup investment in the event their starter goes down mid-season," Bundy said.

Carr could come out of retirement to play for a contender. However, no legitimate Super Bowl contender is going to sign the 34-year-old to be their starting signal-caller, as shown by the Saints not getting any inquiries about the veteran yet.

However, a team could add Carr to serve as a high-quality backup, and the Eagles, Bills, and Rams could be possible landing spots.

Carr would be an upgrade over Tanner McKee at backup quarterback for Philadelphia behind Jalen Hurts. The same goes for the Bills, where Kyle Allen is currently slated to be Josh Allen's backup.

Outside of Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett is the only signal-caller on the Rams' roster. Carr would add some experience behind Stafford in Los Angeles' quarterback room.

It's unknown whether Carr would return to the NFL to be a backup. His lucrative contract could also push away potentially interested teams from trading for him.

Nevertheless, there's no denying Carr can still be a high-quality backup and viable starter when needed. There's a chance a contender could add the four-time Pro Bowler as insurance just in case their starter goes down with an injury in 2026.
