Dylan Raiola injury update: Transfer QB on practice field at Oregon

1 hour ago 3

Oregon transfer quarterback Dylan Raiola made his first appearance on the practice field Thursday. The former Nebraska star is still rehabbing from a broken fibula he suffered last year, but looks towards a fresh start.

Raiola is in the midst of learning a new offense, and one more complex than what the Huskers offered. Ducks coach Dan Lanning said his staff is working with the future QB and breaking him in with ease.

“He’s working,” Lanning said about Raiola. “He was able to practice with us today. We’re being conscientious of where he’s at as he comes back. But he’s pushing, and it’s new for him. He’s coming into a new system. But he’s learning it well. He’s definitely a cerebral player that can make the throws, so I'm very excited about where he’s at and where he’ll continue to grow.”

What sets Raiola apart from other transfers is he's not competing to be a starter. This will be a growth year for him, learning from Dante Moore, who put off NFL consideration to stay in Eugene. Next year will be Raiola's time to shine. Right now, he's waiting his turn, which makes the Ducks dangerous with a clear two-year plan in motion.

Raiola entered the transfer portal as one of the top QBs. He'll give Oregon depth and is already building a strong relationship with his new teammates.

Before he was injured, Raiola was in the midst of a solid sophomore season. Over the course of his career with the Huskers, he threw for 4,819 yards with 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
