Dylan O'Brien Cracks Up While Explaining His "Slut Era"

Dylan O’Brien’s sibling is speaking out.

After a 2024 interview featuring the Teen Wolf star was recirculated online, in which Dylan says he is “grateful” to have trans people in his life like his younger sibling, Julz O'Brien, they clarified they clarified they haven’t heard from Dylan in “over a year.”

“He didn’t check in when I had top surgery,” Julz wrote in a comment under a May 1 Instagram post. “He didn’t even wish me happy bday last week! But glad I could deepen his experience in this world and make the world love him that much more.”

In the referenced Vulture interview, which is from last January, Dylan, 33, said that having queer people in his life helped inform not only his day-to-day life, but also his role in the movie Ponyboi, which follows a gender-nonconforming character, played by River Gallo

“I have a trans, nonbinary sibling,” Dylan explained. “I know people in my personal life as well who are queer and I am so grateful for how much it deepens my experience in this world.”

And upon hearing Dylan’s comments in the interview, Gallo gushed, “This man is literally an example of what so many men should be.”

Julz, 35, also went on to slam Dylan referring to them as nonbinary, noting that they are transmasculine.

E! News has reached out to reps for Dylan regarding his sibling’s recent comments but has not yet heard back.

Julz’s comments come after Dylan admitted he was “extremely uneducated” on the topics tackled in Ponyboi, which hit theaters last January.

“This was such an enlightening experience for me,” Dylan said in an interview with Adobe, adding of Gallo, “They are someone that I hold so dearly to me now too that I’ll have with me for the rest of my life as a friend.”

Dylan—who does not have public social media—was last featured on Julz’s Instagram back in 2023, and received a birthday shoutout from them the year before.

Happy Birthday, Dyl!!” Julz wrote at the time. “Love you so much.”
