The Syracuse Orange saw Maliq Brown's potential.
But he's realizing it for the Duke Blue Devils.
Brown began his college career at SU, and he was a solid contributor for two seasons.
It's with Duke, though, in two seasons after a transfer, that Brown has proven to be one of the most unique players in the country.
He's simply an insanely gifted defender.
With the NCAA Tournament ongoing, fans have been taking to social media to express their amazement in Brown.
MALIQ BROWN UNWORTHY WE ARE
— tremendously enthusiastic (@misterpatohere) March 27, 2026Maliq Brown can have a Draymond Green role at the next level
— LongLiveFloyd (@livendmaintain_) March 27, 2026Maliq Brown is gonna be a player who returns decent 82-game value for an NBA team
Active defensively with decent size & good length
He’s essentially a zero on offense & I think that’s going to wash out his playoff value but will definitely have an NBA career
Forward Kris Dunn
Maliq Brown giving phenomenal minutes for us right now.

Brown is never going to be a guy who catches your attention with his stats.
He's someone you simply have to watch play. His impact on games is in the little moments, but on the biggest stages, those get magnified in a magnificent way.
Syracuse certainly would've loved to still have a player like that.
Brown is likely plenty happy at Duke.
