Duke’s Cooper Flagg is a physical clone of career 5.4 PPG scorer

Cooper Flagg has the talent to be anyone he wants to be in the NBA after almost assuredly going No. 1 overall in June’s draft.

But if we were to stick with the numbers and say who Flagg is most physically similar to, a surprising name pops up.

Data shared by HoopsHype shows that the player with the most similar physical measurements to Flagg is Sam Dekker.

They have almost the same height (6-7.75), standing reach (106 in.), wingspan (7-0) and max vertical leap (35).

If Dekker’s name doesn’t ring a bell, that’s OK. He averaged 5.4 points per game in an underwhelming NBA career.

Dekker was the 18th overall pick in 2015 out of Wisconsin by the Rockets.

He played in just 201 games across five NBA seasons, with two entire seasons missed with injury in that mix as well.

Dekker chimed in on the numbers on his X account, too, writing, “Rare air for him to join.”

None of this is to suggest Flagg will have an NBA career anything like that of Dekker.

Likely, Flagg will be better than Dekker was from the very first seconds he spends on an NBA floor.

It’s just a bit of irony that Flagg, just by the measurements, matches up so similarly to an NBA journeyman.

On the court, Flagg will measure well above that status.
