Duke legend Cooper Flagg becomes 6th Blue Devils player chosen No. 1 overall in NBA Draft

Duke's Cooper Flagg is in some elite company.

Only a handful of Blue Devils have ever been chosen No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft.

Flagg, the freshman phenom from Maine, is the latest. The Dallas Mavericks took him with the first pick on Wednesday night.

He joins a fun list that doesn't include the likes of superstars like Grant Hill, Jabari Parker or Jayson Tatum.

What Duke Blue Devils have been taken No. 1 overall in NBA Draft?

There are now six Duke players who have been chosen No. 1 in the NBA Draft, including Flagg.

The list:

• Art Heyman: 1963 to the New York Knicks
• Elton Brand: 1999 to the Chicago Bulls
• Kyrie Irving: 2011 to the Cleveland Cavaliers
• Zion Williamson: 2019 to the New Orleans Pelicans
• Paolo Banchero: 2022 to the Orlando Magic
• Cooper Flagg: 2025 to the Dallas Mavericks

Gotta love the immortal Art Heyman to the Knicks pick.

The other four guys all lived up to at least some of their hype in the NBA.

Flagg has a chance to be the best of the bunch.
