The Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries game had an unexpected interruption when a lime green object flew onto the court.
At the end of Tuesday night's game (July 29), the Dream and Valkyries fought head-to-head for the win; however, the momentum was briefly interrupted when an object hit the court.
“Something flies on the court actually from the crowd. And you can see the object... the green thing bounces and it goes to the sideline,” sports announcer Morgan Ragan is heard via fan video.
“We’re not exactly sure where it came from,” she continued, with the game pausing as it went into timeout.
“No room for any of that type of activity. And no one’s picked the object up yet, you guys,” the announcer added.
The broadcast camera zoomed in on the item, which was later identified to be a sex toy.
"Oh my gosh, okay. Okay, inappropriate,” the sports announcer said, as the object was identified. “Get them out of here, whoever it is [that threw it].”
The identity of the guest who threw the item has not yet been identified, but the WNBA's official site has specific rules that fans must abide by. In relation to this incident, the site states that any “guests who engage in fighting, throwing objects or attempting to enter the court will be immediately ejected from the arena.”
The night ended with Valkyries beating the Dream, 77-75. It's unclear at this time what consequences the fan faced.
