Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are a win away from the WNBA Finals.

The third win against the New York Liberty in this best-of-five semifinal series will be the hardest to get. But the Dream is in position to finish the job Friday night, when Atlanta takes a 2-0 series lead east to Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

The Dream's 101-98 overtime win in Wednesday's Game 2 saw Atlanta set a franchise record with its fourth successive playoff win.

It also saw Reese, who scored a team-high 23 points in 39 minutes, set a unique 21st-century postseason record.

In just four postseason games, Reese has registered 16 stocks -- or combined steals and blocks.

No other WNBA center in their first playoff run has ever inflicted such individual damage on the defensive end.

This is everything Reese wanted but could not find over two seasons with the Chicago Sky.

The Sky franchise was too dysfunctional to match Reese's professional ambition, and April's blockbuster deal that sent her to the Dream already looks like one of the most transformative trades in WNBA history.

Atlanta's State Farm Arena will host all 25 of the Dream's regular-season home games in 2027 -- a decision that doesn't get made without Reese, a star whose gravitational pull is undeniable.

Playing for the Dream has unlocked and enhanced Reese's game. In Atlanta, she has become the league's best defender, and she looks more confident and assured on the offensive end: consider she went 4-for-4 on the free throws she attempted in the last minute of the fourth quarter and overtime.

But the most tangible way to measure transformation is with championship banners and rings. Reese is 40 minutes from competing for one.
