The 2026-27 NBA season has just started, but it seems that the community is unanimous in the opinion that the Miami Heat have been a big disappointment. They are 0-3 to start the campaign, which is quite far from the high expectations before the season started.
Trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo meant the Heat finally had a superstar to pair with Bam Adebayo. Three games in, they are winless, which is not a good look for the Heat.
Draymond Green reveals he's not surprised about the Heat's struggles
The three defeats are bitter pills to swallow for the Heat fans because they expected a lot from their team. Of course, the first two games against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons were obviously tough matchups, but they lost to the Charlotte Hornets in their third game.
Losing to the Hornets is not a good look, especially since the Brandon Miller-led team did not have some crucial players. They were not projected to be a better team than the Heat before the season started.
MORE: The Heat are off to a sluggish 0-3 start to Giannis Antetokounmpo's tenure with the team
As someone who is never shy to speak his mind, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has given his two cents on the situation with the Heat. He has revealed that he was barely surprised about Miami's sluggish start.
"When you trade for someone like Giannis, the amount of contracts it takes to reach the salary plus picks, you’re gonna deplete your depth when you trade for a star like that," Green said about the Heat's start to the season on his podcast.
"Usually when you see big trades like Giannis, it’s usually the next year that the team catches up. It takes a summer because you have to deplete your roster to bring those guys in. I don’t think it’s any surprise that this team lacks depth right now."
That should be a worrying sign for the Heat because they have gone all-in for this season. The championship window is not closed after this season, but swinging for the fences and struggling like this out of the gate is not a good look. Now, it is up to the Heat to bounce back and prove the doubters wrong.
