Drake has apparently been banned from commentating at Toronto Raptors games for the next year.

Taking to his Instagram Story from a home game as the Raptors played the Golden State Warriors on Monday (January 13), Drizzy seemed to take the ban in stride while still being anxious to hit the mic.

“@raptors how long is my headphone ban?? I was born to commentate,” he wrote.

In audible commentary, he added, “Good ol’ one-year ban. It is what it is. It was good while it lasted. I’ll be back one day…”

Fans are speculating that the ban dates back to November when Drake had some less than savory things to say about former Raptors player DeMar DeRozan when his current team of the Sacramento Kings took on the Raptors.

While commentating on live TV, Drake called DeRozan a “goof” and added, “If you ever put up a DeRozan banner, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.”

He was, of course, upset that his former friend appeared on stage at Kendrick Lamar‘s ‘Pop Out’ concert and in the music video for his Drake diss, “Not Like Us.”

DeRozan previously explained his allegiance to Kendrick in an interview with The Breakfast Club, though he admitted that he has love for both K.Dot and Drake.

“At the end of the day, I’m from Compton. My city, where I’m from, where I was born, where my family still lives, that comes first before anything,” he said.

“I feel like any real person would understand that. It’s so crazy because my second home became Toronto, that has one of the greatest [rappers] of all time coming from there too.”

DeRozan also confirmed at the time that he had not spoken to Drake since the rapper’s feud with Kendrick kicked off that spring.
