Donovan Mitchell does not want to keep worrying about his shooting struggles vs Detroit

The Cleveland Cavaliers failed to close out the Detroit Pistons in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Now, the New York Knicks are still waiting in the Conference Finals after sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers.

In Game 6, Donovan Mitchell was expected to be the star of the show. Yet again, he struggled, shooting 6-of-20 from the field for 18 total points. It was a disappointing performance, but the multi-time All-Star will not dwell on his night.

Donovan Mitchell will not dwell on his subpar Game 6 performance

The Cavaliers did not look like they were playing for an opportunity to reach the Eastern Conference Finals in Game  6. They looked labored, especially when compared to the Pistons' energetic play.

As the star player and leader, Mitchell is expected to step up. He missed a ton of shots, which most likely ruined his momentum and confidence to lead the team. It was unfortunate, especially since the other players didn't have amazing games.

James Harden led the Cavs in scoring with 23 points, but it was not enough to beat the Pistons. Cade Cunningham might have had 21 points as the team high, but six players in double figures.

When compared to the Cavs, they would have expected Mitchell or Harden to take over, but they could not against the Pistons' energetic defense.

"Can't dwell on it. I missed shots tonight. Do I take some tough shots? Sure, I can say about every game. I'm not here to look at the fact that I missed shots, but the overall impact of the game," Mitchell said in his post-game press conference with Harden after Game 6.

"Tonight I missed shots, which I've been making every game in this series; tonight I didn't. I ain't worried about that, it's moreso about everything else."

Game 6 was a lesson for the Cavs, and they will have to apply that lesson in Game 7. It will be in Detroit, which is particularly difficult because the Cavs have won only one road game in this postseason, and that was Game 5.
