Dolphins' Zach Wilson has one of NFL's most underratedly crucial QB roles

Zach Wilson is back in the AFC East.

And man, he could end up being quite important.

Wilson joined the Miami Dolphins as their backup quarterback this offseason. And that's a crucial role, because Tua Tagovailoa can't seem to stay healthy.

ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques thinks Wilson is one of the three "players to watch" in Dolphins training camp for that reason.

"The Dolphins' backup quarterback job might be the most highly-publicized backup role in the league over the past few seasons," Louis-Jacques writes. "Miami can no longer go all-in on Tua Tagovailoa's availability over a full season, and must have a capable backup on its roster. The Dolphins are counting on either Wilson or seventh-round pick Quinn Ewers to be that guy."

Louis-Jacques does project Ewers to join Wilson in making the 53-man roster.

But it'd be a bad sign for the Dolphins if the former No. 2 overall pick of the Jets can't hold off the seventh-rounder for the main backup role.

Don't be surprised to see Wilson on the field this season in Dolphins colors, maybe even against the Jets.
