Dolphins' Tyreek Hill shows glimpse of old self, Mike Florio says ignore the Super Bowl apology

The Miami Dolphins continue to be one of the most drama-filled teams in the NFL. Tyreek Hill is returning to the franchise after making it clear at the end of last season that he was done playing for Miami. Now, he's trying to prove himself to the team once again.

“Every day I’m trying to prove myself as one of those guys this team can depend on in crucial moments. . . . It was tough. Emotions were high then. At the end of the day, I’m just looking to move forward from that. Hoping that I can prove myself and prove to my teammates that I’m still one of those ones,” Hill said.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa made it clear that the locker room hasn’t forgotten what Hill said.

“It's not just with me, it's with a lot of the guys. I'm not the only one that heard that. You guys aren't the only people that heard that," Tagovailoa said. "A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek, that are fans of his — everyone has seen that. So, when you say something like that, you don't just come back from that with, 'Hey, my bad.' You got to work that relationship up; you've got to build everything back up again.”

Hill landed back in the hot seat after once again going back on his word. He recently stressed to the media how important it is to show up on time for stretching, yet on Sunday, he was nowhere to be seen during that period. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio emphasized that Hill’s actions need to be monitored closely.

“Hill showing up late brings back into focus the core question of whether he has changed from the guy who, after a frustrating 2024 season, said he wants out of Miami. Ignore the Super Bowl radio-row apology tour. Watch his actions,” Florio wrote.

While this might seem like an overreaction to some, it could also be the first sign of Hill slipping back into old habits. Only time will tell, but his actions will be closely watched. Hill still has work to do to prove to his teammates that he’s truly changed — and to do that, he must understand it’s a daily commitment.
