The Miami Dolphins have been trying to move veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey since the start of the offseason, but so far, things haven't gone as planned. Many expected him to be traded shortly after June 1, yet as July approaches, no deal has materialized. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes a trade could still happen before training camp.
“Jalen Ramsey will get traded. It'll be, I would expect before the start of training camp. We'll see how it shakes out, where he goes,” Schefter said.
The Dolphins nearly landed a potential replacement for Ramsey, but the deal ultimately fell through. Jaire Alexander, recently released by the Green Bay Packers, was close to signing with Miami before the Baltimore Ravens finalized a deal with him.
“Falcons, he was considering," Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday on SportsCenter. "Miami Dolphins, he was also considering. But Baltimore had the clear edge throughout that process."
Alexander was set to earn a significant salary this season, but injuries led the Packers to back away from a high-cost commitment.
“Packers GM Brian Gutekunst met in person with CB Jaire Alexander on Sunday one last time, presumably giving him one last chance to restructure/reduce his contract and when he refused, Alexander was released from the team the next morning. Jaire has yet to comment this offseason,” reported Packers insider Mike Clemens.

Alexander would have been the best possible replacement for Ramsey, but he chose a team he felt gave him the best chance to win a Super Bowl—even for less money.
“New Ravens CB Jaire Alexander signing a one-year, $4 million deal with $2 million in play-time incentives on top of that, source said. Missed 20 games the last year, so the structure makes sense. Had $17.5 million on his deal in Green Bay for 2025, before the Packers cut him,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported.
The Dolphins lost out on Alexander to the Ravens, but had they offered more money, he might be wearing a Miami jersey as Ramsey’s replacement today.
