The Miami Dolphins decided back in April to trade Jalen Ramsey. According to an anonymous scout, the trade stems from a broken relationship with head coach Mike McDaniel.
“The broken relationship between Jalen Ramsey and McDaniel is why he’s on the trade block,” said the anonymous scout. “No one has been able to explain what happened, but I was told this actually has nothing to do with money. It’s a vote of no confidence in McDaniel. If the Ramsey trade goes down, this is a huge talent drain in the secondary.”
This situation has prompted a search in free agency, and one name of interest again is Rasul Douglas. Douglas and the Dolphins engaged in contract talks earlier this offseason.
According to Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, Miami remains actively engaged in discussions with Douglas.
“Per source, Dolphins remain in active discussions with free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas. He's the most accomplished HEALTHY corner available who isn't older than 30,” Jackson wrote.
At this point, the Dolphins need a veteran cornerback in the room—and they need one quickly, as training camp is about to start. While it seems likely a deal will happen between the two sides, something has continued to hold it up. Still, a deal just needs to get done.

“As Jackson reports, the Dolphins have had interest in Douglas since April. That means the two sides have had months to make a deal. It’s unclear what could have been holding things up, but with training camp now here, it’s time for the team to get things across the finish line,” Phin Phanatic’s Jaleel Grandberry wrote.
If the Dolphins complete a deal with Douglas, they will get exactly the type of player they wanted when deciding to trade Ramsey. Hopefully, a deal is done soon so the team can add another veteran presence to the cornerback room.
