Coming into the 2025 season, the Miami Dolphins were at a crossroads.
Head coach Mike McDaniel and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa needed to prove themselves if they wanted to stick around in Miami beyond the season. So far, the team is 1-5, and the bottom may have already fallen out underneath them.
It's increasingly becoming more likely we'll see the Dolphins clean house and start fresh in 2026, which could mean a new coach and possibly even a new quarterback under center.
Mock draft has Dolphins selecting Oregon's Dante Moore
In a recent mock draft from CBS Sports, Josh Edwards has the Dolphins selecting Oregon quarterback Dante Moore with the fifth overall pick.
"Miami will almost assuredly go through a coaching change during or after the season. Tua Tagovailoa's comments following the Week 6 loss have gone over like a lead balloon and the Dolphins may determine it is time for a full restart," wrote Edwards.
"Dante Moore was volatile as a true freshman at UCLA in 2023, but a year on the bench at Oregon behind Dillon Gabriel has served him well."
With Miami expected to have a clean slate in 2026, Moore could be the perfect breath of fresh air the franchise has been looking for.
While Tagovailoa can be a productive quarterback, it's become more obvious over his career that he's not a guy who can carry the franchise on his shoulders. He's more equipped to be a distributor who works within the confines of an offense.
Moore, on the other hand, displays electric athletic ability and has been showing out for the Oregon Ducks so far in 2025.
Through six games, Moore has completed 72% of his passes for 1396 yards to 15 touchdowns and three interceptions.
He could be exactly what Miami needs in a new era of Dolphins football.
