Dolphins’ Ollie Gordon spars with assistant in ugly ‘TNF’ sideline scene

The wheels are falling off and frustration is setting in for Miami.

Thursday night’s sometimes-painful-to-watch 28-6 demolition of the Dolphins by the Ravens featured Miami running backs coach Eric Studesville and rookie back Ollie Gordon II appearing to get in some sort of altercation.

During the early second quarter with the Ravens ahead, 14-3, Gordon was called for a tripping penalty, which most people seem to agree was a poor call by the officiating crew.

It wiped out a critical 35-yard completion to Jaylen Waddle, which would have put Miami in the red zone.

After the play, Gordon went facemask to nose with his position coach, as both parties clearly were frustrated with what transpired on the play.

The penalty pushed the Dolphins back into their own territory, where they would eventually punt on the drive.

Gordon, 21, also ripped off his helmet in a fit, slammed it to the ground and was grabbed by teammates, who eventually tried to calm him down.

Yikes: The Dolphins RB coach went OFF on RB Ollie Gordon after he was flagged for an AWFUL tripping call.

The coach was 100% in the wrong here 🤦‍♂️

Gordon also suffered an ankle injury later that quarter and did not return.

The penalty was later described as a “guy who lost his balance” by Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, who believed Gordon did not commit an infraction.

Poor penalty call aside, the hot seat couldn’t possibly be hotter for Miami’s head coach, as McDaniel is now having assistant coaches and his backup running back feuding on the sidelines.

McDaniel, who is signed through 2028 after receiving an extension in 2024, could certainly be let go before the end of the season or perhaps in the offseason.
