Dolphins linked to 6-time Pro Bowler as next free agent signing

The Miami Dolphins owe it to themselves to surround Tua Tagovailoa with as much talent as possible, and then they cross their fingers and hope he stays healthy.

ESPN's Aaron Schatz suggests that Dolphins do just that by signing a six-time Pro Bowl WR who is still available.

The player is Keenan Allen, and he would join Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in Miami's receiving core.

"Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle give the Dolphins two excellent outside receivers, but there are questions about the slot," Schatz writes. "Right now, Miami's top slot options are the Washington not-brothers, two low-round draft picks from a year ago. In 2024, Malik Washington had just 26 catches for 223 yards with no touchdowns, while Tahj Washington missed his entire rookie season with an undisclosed injury. That makes Miami the perfect landing spot for a seasoned veteran slot receiver like Allen."

Allen is 33 years old but is coming off a great season with the Bears and rookie QB Caleb Williams.

His 2024 numbers were 70 catches for 744 yards and seven TDs.

In his career, Allen has 974 catches for 11,274 yards. He's approaching that 1000-catch milestone.

He remains one of the NFL's top route-runners with the hands to match.

Tagovailoa would surely love a veteran presence on the inside to give him an option when Hill and Waddle take the top off the defense.

Allen seems like a great fit.
