Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle responds to trade rumors after Tyreek Hill release

1 hour ago 2

The Miami Dolphins, with new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, are beginning to reshape the roster.

Tyreek Hill was cut, along with fellow veterans Bradley Chubb, James Daniels, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. In the wake of those moves, a rumor that Jaylen Waddle wanted out of Miami started to gain attention on social media.

But, the next day after the rumor gained a bit of attention, Waddle posted a response to that post on Twitter/x with one emoji "🧢." If it wasn't clear based on the "cap" emoji, Waddle is saying this rumor isn't true.

Jaylen Waddle shuts down trade rumor with one emoji

Waddle was responding to a post from Adam Ferrell, a fake NFL insider, who posted: "Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle reportedly told the Dolphins front office, 'me next' after the release of Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill. Things are not looking good in Miami."

The rumor that Ferrell spread was baseless, and Waddle came out and confirmed it himself by saying that this "NFL insider" is capping, or lying, about Waddle wanting out.

The Dolphins look poised to go into 2026 with Waddle and De'Von Achane as the main pieces on offense, and the focal points of the rebuild on the offensive side of the ball.

While Hill's release sparked questions about the future of the Dolphins roster, those questions should be directed towards Tua Tagovailoa, as his future is very much in doubt after the string of cuts on Monday.

Waddle, the 27-year-old wide receiver, isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Despite putting up under 1,000 yards for the second straight season after three years with over 1,000 to begin his career, Waddle is a core part of the Dolphins' offense.

Sullivan and Hafley likely will keep Waddle, and based on Waddle's response to this trade rumor, there's no indication he's going to ask out of Miami anytime soon.
