The Miami Dolphins signed an undrafted free agent quarterback in May.
In July, he's been cut.
On Tuesday, Miami waived QB Brett Gabbert, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's the brother of former first-round quarterback Blaine Gabbert of the Jaguars.
The Dolphins will spend the summer with three quarterbacks on the roster: Tua Tagovailoa, Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers.
This younger Gabbert played his college football at Miami of Ohio.
In 2024, he went 217-for-379 with 2,291 yards, 21 passing TDs and 11 interceptions.

Gabbert has tons of experience, having started 53 games during his Miami career. His best season was actually way back in 2021, when he threw 26 touchdowns compared to just six interceptions and led the MAC in quarterback rating.
Being released at this point in the offseason should give Gabbert a chance to latch on with a different NFL team.
It just doesn't look like it'll be the Dolphins.
