The Miami Dolphins are likely to move on from Tua Tagovailoa this offseason. While he could be traded or cut, the Dolphins look poised to move on from the lefty quarterback.
In his place, the Dolphins, led by Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley, will need to find a quarterback to replace the $212 million veteran QB.
According to Tony Pauline of Essentiallysports.com, the Dolphins' top choice has seemingly been identified. Pauline reports that the belief is Hafley has his sights set on 26-year-old dual-threat quarterback Malik Willis from the Green Bay Packers.
Dolphins believed to favor Malik Willis as top QB choice
"The overwhelming belief from people I've spoken with is that Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley favors signing Malik Willis, the former Green Bay Packers backup who is slated for free agency," Pauline writes.
Halfey has a good idea of what he'd be getting in Willis. The same goes for Sullivan. Both were hired by the Dolphins out of their jobs with the Packers last season.
With Jordan Love as the starter, the Packers are set to let Willis walk this offseason. The 26-year-old will be 27 at the beginning of the regular season, but he's a young-enough QB worth taking a flier on.
In his limited action last season, he had 422 passing yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions on 85.7% completion rate. He also ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts.

Compared to Tagovailoa, Willis is the far more mobile quarterback. And while it wasn't a lot of game action, his ability not to throw an interception would also be a nice plus for the Dolphins in going from Tagovailoa to Willis.
Willis has only started six games in his career, and there's not a lot of tape on him as a full-time starter. But the spot starter work he's had has been very encouraging.
If the Dolphins want to take a chance on a young quarterback with a ton of upside, Willis would be their best option this offseason.
There's the Packers connection, and then there's the need and fit with the Dolphins for Willis. This possible signing would make a ton of sense, and reportedly, Hafley and the Dolphins have their eye on Willis as a top choice to replace Tagovailoa this offseason.
