The Miami Dolphins have been hit harder than any other team by the injury bug this training camp. It's especially concerning when looking at the current state of their secondary — and what could come if the injuries continue. Just last week, the team added two veteran cornerbacks in response to mounting injuries at the position.
“Miami signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton to help bolster the unit, NFL Network's Cam Wolfe reported on Saturday. The Dolphins announced earlier in the day that they had signed cornerback Jack Jones,” NFL.com’s Eric Edholm wrote.
On Saturday, more concerns arose when Jaelan Phillips was unable to finish practice. He attempted to jog on the sideline but appeared uncomfortable and eventually returned to the training facility.
“Phillips stood on the sideline with his helmet in his hand for a while, trying to determine if he could jog without an issue. He seemed to determine that he could not jog comfortably and then walked to the opposite side of the field to meet with a team trainer, taking a seat on a team cooler, before walking under his own power into the team facility,” Miami Herald’sBarry Jackson wrote.
Omar Kelly, also of the Miami Herald, was concerned, even calling on fans to offer their prayers.
“Jaelan Phillips has been pulled from practice after what seemed like he tweaked something. He is testing out his running. Say your prayers,” Kelly posted.

Fortunately, it was later confirmed that the injury was minor — just a bruise — and that Phillips would be fine. The update came directly from Phillips himself.
“I just got leg whipped yall chill out just a bruise,” Phillips posted.
This was welcome news for Dolphins fans. Phillips has missed significant time over the past two seasons, and losing him again would have left a major hole in Miami’s pass rush. His personal update provided a huge sigh of relief.
