While the USA didn't look quite as dominant as Canada and ceded the No. 1 seed to their neighbors to the north, the real competition is about to begin. The U.S. can win gold with three consecutive wins, though a loaded Canada team could certainly stand in the way.

Does USA hockey play today?
The USA does not play on Tuesday, as they received a bye to the quarterfinals of the men's hockey tournament.
Tuesday's slate features four games involving teams that finished between seeds 5-12. The top four seeds advanced directly to the quarterfinals, and the United States earned the bye by securing the No. 2 seed.

The United States will play its next game on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with puck drop set for 3:10 p.m. ET. The USA will face the winner of Tuesday's playoff matchup between No. 7 Sweden and No. 10 Latvia, with Sweden the decisive favorite in that game.
The game will air nationally on NBC and can streamed live on Peacock.
Sweden could pose an unusually strong threat to the U.S. for a No. 7 seed. The Swedes entered the Olympics with the third-shortest odds to win gold, and their roster is loaded with NHL talent. After appearing less sharp than expected at times during the preliminary round, though, that kind of challenge could benefit the United States in the long run.
