Does ARC Raiders have duo matchmaking?

ARC Raiders allows you to play with squads, but this is an option that you can opt out of to play solo. Occasionally, when you turn off the 'Fill Squad' option, the game may put you in the same match as a few other squads. You can play the game as a duo; however, your opponents may not all be duos. This is because of the lack of a duo or solo-only game mode.

Thankfully, as of November 12, 2025, ARC Raiders has officially enabled duo prioritized matchmaking. Therefore, the game will prioritize matches where duos are paired against one another. This article will explain how it works.

ARC Raiders will now prioritize duo matchmaking separately

Embark Studios shared an update about the game's community and how they've worked with player feedback for the betterment of the matchmaking experience.

According to their post, in the second week of November 2025, the developers silently began testing a new feature where duo prioritized matchmaking in ARC Raiders was enabled. On November 12, 2025, the studios revealed that this will now effectively work in the game for those who play the game with their duo.

Therefore, now, duos will mostly be paired with other duos in their matches. This is a drastic change and a helpful one, since solo and duo players often found themselves facing a whole squad while going on an expedition.

Here's how the system works. First, ARC Raiders will prioritize solo and squad players to play separately. The next priority is for duos to be put up against other duos, and the same goes for trios, who will be placed against other trios. In this way, all players and groups get a fair fight where they are not outnumbered.

However, players need to understand that this is not a 100% fix for duo matchmaking. Therefore, there may be instances where solo or duo players find themselves facing another squad. The difference is, the chances of this situation occurring are now drastically lower.

Overall, it will be much safer for duos to play the game together and get fair fights in the absence of full squads inside the server.
