Dodgers trade pitch sees team acquire former MLB No. 4 prospect from Braves

The Los Angeles Dodgers could soon run out of patience with Michael Conforto. They could swing a trade for a high upside outfielder to bring into the mix.

Conforto signed for $17 million in the offseason but is hitting below .200 as the team's primary left fielder. The Dodgers do not seemingly want to replace him with any of their internal options and disrupt their current rotation of position players. However, ClutchPoints' RB Hayek suggested the team could trade for Atlanta Braves outfielder Jared Kelenic.

"Currently, the Dodgers have the best bullpen in baseball, making their arms appealing to a battered team like the Braves," wrote Hayek. "The Dodgers are still looking for outfield depth, and Kelenic would fill a void. Ben Casparius, Anthony Banda, or Alex Vesia could be good options out of the pen for the Braves."

Kelenic was once the No. 4 prospect in all of baseball, but has not found great success in the big leagues. He joined the Braves last season and hit .231 in 131 games. This season, he played 23 games before being sent down to Triple-A. With Ronald Acuña Jr.'s return looming, the Braves have no need for Kelenic.

The Dodgers seem content with Hyeseong Kim as a utility player and Tommy Edman as their primary second baseman. They've already noted that Dalton Rushing will not play in the outfield. The team knows what they do not have in James Outman, so perhaps taking a chance on Kelenic is not the worst idea.

The Dodgers are one of the best organizations when it comes to developing talent, so perhaps they can view Kelenic as a reclamation project. Even if he splits time in left field with Conforto, it is going to be tough to produce worse than Conforto has been. At worst, he is a reliable fourth outfielder who plays decent defense.
