Shohei Ohtani hits rockets, missiles, torpedoes, whatever you want to call his magnificent results at the plate.
The Dodgers star doesn't plan on using a torpedo bat to add to his results, though.
Ohtani spoke with Japanese media about the trendy bat with the altered wood distribution and made his opinion clear.
"I don’t think I’d suddenly start using it," Ohtani said via a translation from Dodgers Beat on X. "I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility, but I’m very satisfied with my current bat, and I feel like I’m getting the right feel from it. So, for now, I think I’ll stick with the bat I’m using."
Ohtani launched his walk-off home run Wednesday night plenty far with his trusty bat.
There is something to be said for sticking with a bat that feels right. Dodgers slugger Max Muncy ditched his torpedo bat after a few tries yesterday to return to his old lumber in a key spot and delivered.

If the feel or timing at the plate is wrong, a hitter has no chance against the dominant stuff of modern MLB pitching.
Shohei is just fine sticking with what he knows works.
