Dodgers predicted to swing blockbuster trade for Mason Miller

The Los Angeles Dodgers have hit a rough patch. While they are still contenders and will likely break out of their slump soon, they could benefit from adding some more pitching.

The Dodgers' starting rotation has dealt with injuries all season. While their starting rotation is getting healthy again, their bullpen took a major blow on Monday night. Tanner Scott exited the game early and will undergo an MRI on his throwing arm.

Scott was struggling in the first year of his four-year, $72 million deal. He surrendered a run before exiting Monday's contest as well. He has a 4.14 ERA on the season, and the Dodgers were likely in the market for a late-inning reliever anyway, but the urgency may have risen as the trade deadline inches closer.

There could be many rental options available for the Dodgers, but Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer predicted the Dodgers would swing a blockbuster trade for Mason Miller of the Athletics.

"The Athletics' closer hasn't been quite as electrifying in 2025 as he was in 2024, but the fastball is still getting as high as 104.1 mph," wrote Rymer. "He has also long since shaken off a slow start, posting a 1.96 ERA with six hits allowed in his last 18.1 innings."

Miller will not be a free agent until 2030, and is one of the most electric young relievers in baseball. His overall numbers this year are not the best, but he has turned things on as of late. He could be a great weapon out of the bullpen, and if Scott misses time, he could fill in without a hitch. However, he would not be cheap.

"Per (Ken) Rosenthal, the A's heretofore stubborn stance on trading the 26-year-old is 'subject to change,'" wrote Rymer. "And of all the teams that could be desperate enough to move heaven and earth to get him out of Sacramento, the Dodgers have one advantage. Namely, their wealth of young talent. They have the No. 3 farm system in MLB, plus a whole bunch of former prospects who could appeal to the Athletics. Among the latter group is catcher Dalton Rushing and right-hander Bobby Miller."
