The Los Angeles Dodgers have to be careful with what they want to do with Shohei Ohtani on the mound. Arguably the best player in Major League Baseball right now, Ohtani has also swung the bat at a rather high level to start the season with a .273 average and two home runs.
His pitching almost just feels like a bonus now, though it's important to remember that when he's on the mound, he's incredible, and that's already been on display throughout the year with a six-inning performance where he struck out six and didn't allow an earned run.
With a series against the Toronto Blue Jays now here, Dave Roberts made it known that Ohtani will get another start against the defending American League champions, adding that Ohtani will likely pitch on the last day in Toronto.
“Dave Roberts said Shohei Ohtani’s next pitching outing will likely be the last day in Toronto. Also, he reiterated from last night that Justin Wrobleski will start one of the games on this upcoming road trip,” The Athletic reporter Fabian Ardaya said.
The Dodgers are 7-2 on the year and will play the Blue Jays on Monday night in what will be a three-game set. Toronto has been decent to start the season but isn't playing as well as it did a season ago.
Regardless, this should be a fun series, especially the closing matchup with Ohtani on the mound.
