The Los Angeles Dodgers have struggled lately. They still lead the National League West and have the second-best record in the Senior Circuit, but their lead in the division has been cut down to 3 1/2 games over the San Diego Padres.
The team is in need of pitching help. They've watched several key pieces of their staff hit the injured list again this season.
They managed to overcome this issue last year and win another World Series title, but they'll still need to find ways to shore things up. Pitching is always in high demand at the trade deadline, but the Dodgers aren't afraid to go big.
However, there is one solution that may not require them to do such a thing. Russell Dorsey of Yahoo Sports listed former Dodger Andrew Heaney as a top trade piece and had Los Angeles as a potential destination.
"Heaney is an established veteran arm who has pitched in pennant races before, and as a left-hander, he would be a strong addition to slot into the middle-to-end of a rotation looking to add some quality depth," Dorsey writes.

Heaney has struggled lately. He has watched his ERA rise from 3.33 to 5.03. The Pittsburgh Pirates haven't exactly given him much run support either, as he is 4-9 in 19 starts and one relief appearance over 102 innings of work.
The veteran left-hander was briefly traded to the Dodgers before the 2015 season but was later shipped to the Los Angeles Angels. He returned to the Dodgers in 2022.
While not a household name, Heaney can eat innings and fill a spot in the rotation for Los Angeles while they wait for some of their more established arms to return from the injured list. He has been in the Major Leagues since 2014 and is quite well traveled.
Perhaps pitching for a contender could help him rediscover his old form. He posted a 3.10 ERA with the Dodgers in 2022.
It will be interesting to see how the Dodgers approach the deadline.
