Dodgers have historic night in another late-inning comeback victory

The Los Angeles Dodgers enjoyed a nice Kyle Tucker game-winning single on Friday, and then were treated to another historic night on Saturday. In the 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, in which they swept the opening series of 2026, some memorable moments happened that have not been done all that often over the entire history of Major League Baseball.

Let's go over what happened.

Freeman ties A-Rod

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman moved up in the all-time history books with the 548th double of his career. That is now a tie for 32nd place all-time, with one of the greatest hitters this game has ever seen, Alex Rodriguez.

Freeman has gotten off to a nice start this season, with a .250 batting average, a base-on-balls, and no strikeouts through 12 at-bats. He also has one RBI in the opening series of the year.

Late-game heroics to start the year

In each of the opening series' three games, the Dodgers had to come from behind and win after trailing by multiple runs. That is only the seventh time in 125 years that has happened.

This is a nice sentiment to how complete this roster is, and why they are projected to complete the illustrious three-peat by winning the World Series again this season. Closer Edwin Diaz, who got the save on Friday, was thrown back in on Saturday as well to slam the door shut. If this team has a lead going into the ninth, start packing up because it is as good as over once those trumpets start to blare.
