Baseball returns to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028 after it was not part of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It is not yet known if Major League Baseball players will participate. Still, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts thinks he's the right man for the United States' managerial position.
“In L.A., I want to manage that team,” Roberts said in a discussion with the California Post. “No one’s more relevant to do that than me.”
Roberts has led the Dodgers to back-to-back World Series titles and three overall since he took the helm in 2016.
MLB players showing interest
Bryce Harper is one of the many MLB players who could suit up for the U.S. at the Olympics in 2028. Harper will play for Team USA at the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic.
“We have the WBC, but it’s not the same. People can say as much as they want, but the Olympics is so worldwide," Harper told The Athletic in June 2024. "The WBC is great and brings a lot of people together, but the Olympics is something you dream about playing in.”
Shohei Ohtani has expressed interest in competing for Japan in 2028.
