Dodgers acquire 'most impactful rental arm' not named Tarik Subal in trade idea with Orioles

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a loaded farm system.

They can utilize their organizational depth to acquire Major League talent at the upcoming trade deadline. 

Even if Los Angeles sends a few of their prospects in the top 10 to another club for a starting pitcher, it won't be a huge loss if one or both of those players pan out. 

As back-to-back World Series champions, the AL West club's front office is under little to no pressure to make additions to the already stacked roster. 

But Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter wrote Friday that the Dodgers could be a solid landing spot for an All-Star starter from the Baltimore Orioles. 

"The 28-year-old stumbled out of the gates this season in a contract year, but he has been throwing the ball well of late with a 2.21 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 61 innings over his last 10 starts," Reuter wrote about left-hander Trevor Rogers.

"That recent performance and his ace-caliber track record gives him a chance to be the most impactful rental arm not named Tarik Skubal," he added. 

Of course, the Dodgers will be one of the clubs who shows interest in Skubal, the back-to-back AL Cy Young Award winner. 

In 2025, Rogers posted a 1.81 ERA in 18 starts, finishing ninth in AL Cy Young voting.

For the Dodgers to acquire the 28-year-old, Reuter's trade proposal sends starting pitcher Zach Root and outfielder Charles Davalan to the Orioles. 

Manager Dave Roberts' club already has a plethora of starters, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Justin Wrobleski leading the way until Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell return from injury. 

But adding Rogers is a superb fallback option if a Skubal trade lands elsewhere.
