The Los Angeles Dodgers are just four wins away from having the chance to win their third consecutive World Series championship. The Dodgers handled the Atlanta Braves relatively swiftly after losing Game 2 of the series.
Los Angeles is going to give the Milwaukee Brewers a run for their money. However, all eyes are on veteran Miguel Rojas, who left Game 3 of the NLDS due to an injury.
“Dodgers Miguel Rojas left with lower back soreness. Started when he slipped fielding a ground ball on the edge of the outfield grass in the fifth inning. Aggravated it on swing in the eighth,” Dodgers writer Bill Plunkett wrote.
Rojas initially believed he would be alright following the game. However, manager Dave Roberts announced before Game 4 that he would not be available.
“Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Miguel Rojas is not in the lineup Wednesday night for Game 4 of the NL Division Series after leaving Tuesday night's 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves during an at-bat with lower back soreness. Manager Dave Roberts said Rojas is "not great" and would not be available off the bench,” ESPN wrote.
Rojas' status has been a developing storyline throughout the week, especially with the NLCS set to begin Sunday. Roberts revealed on Saturday that Rojas is expected to be on the roster.
“Dodgers Dave Roberts said he expects Miguel Rojas to be on the active roster for the NLCS. Rojas is participating in the workout right now,’ Plunkett wrote.
This is huge news for the Dodgers, as Rojas can play multiple positions as a utility player and is valuable at the plate against left-handed pitchers. The veteran is likely playing in his final postseason before retirement, so he will give it everything he has.
Rojas is playing on a $5.5 million contract this season. LA knows how important it is to have him on the roster. While the back issue remains a concern, his expected availability for the NLCS is encouraging news for the Dodgers.
