Doc Rivers' reaction to controversial foul call in Bucks-Hornets goes viral

The Milwaukee Bucks suffered a heartbreaking defeat against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, 115-114.

Leading by one point with less than 10 seconds to go, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was called for a foul, sending Hornets guard LaMelo Ball to the free throw line. He nailed both before Antetokounmpo missed the game-winner, but the call did not come without controversy.

Bucks coach Doc Rivers was trending on social media in two different ways thanks to the situation.

Firstly, Rivers' instant reaction to the foul on the jumbotron was one to remember. He looked on with pure disgust on his face as Ball approached the charity stripe. The facial expression gathered much attention, but not nearly as much as his postgame comment.

When asked about the foul on his star player, Rivers decided to push the blame toward the referees rather than taking accountability.

"I thought the final play was the ref blowing the call. This is back-to-back games now where on the final play there's been an incorrect call made," Rivers said. "LaMelo Ball fell. He just fell down. Nobody was near him. Slipped on his own. We come up with the ball. The game's over."

Unusually, many fans backed Rivers' remark. It appears Ball lost his footing and fell, not Antetokounmpo forcing him off his feet.

The bad news is, regardless of opinions on the call, the Bucks dropped yet another winnable game. They now sit at 4-9, or 12th in the Eastern Conference.
