Disturbing details of how D4vd allegedly butchered Celeste Rivas revealed in court — with new gruesome photos

Celeste Rivas’ was stabbed in her liver and her body cut up into multiple pieces, as horrific new details were shared in the preliminary hearing of D4vd.

Medical examiner Dr. Grant Ho was back on the stand Friday in Los Angeles where he described Rivas’ upper and lower extremities being dismembered. Ho said each leg had two dismemberment sites — one below the thigh and one around the knee — possibly done by a power tool.

The courtroom was shown graphic photos of Rivas’ hands and fingers, some of which had also been removed. Photos of Rivas’ decomposing body were also shown to the courtroom.

D4vd, real name David Burke, did not look at the photos when they were displayed, and Rivas’ parents were not in the courtroom.

Ho revealed he discovered two wounds on Rivas’ body — one on the right abdomen and one on the chest. The wound to the abdomen punctured Rivas’ liver and was compatible with “sharp force injury.”

The other injury, he said, may “represent a gunshot wound,” though that was not clear.

The medical examiner testified that the victim’s left chest wound could have been fatal by allowing air to enter the chest, while the liver wound could have caused life-threatening internal bleeding.

Death could have occurred within minutes or taken up to an hour, he said, noting that a 14-year-old has less than five liters of blood and poignantly added, “She didn’t make it to her 15th birthday.”

Ho’s testimony started late Thursday but not before Rivas’ parents left the courtroom.  Their attorney Patrick Steinfeld stayed and heard grizzly details about the state of Rivas’ body when the medical examiner received it.

Ho detailed Rivas’ body as only weighing 71 pounds during the autopsy. “The body was markedly decomposed,” he said, adding there was “trauma to the body, particularly the extremities.” Ho also said Rivas’ braces were discovered during the exam. 

Rivas was only 14 when she was allegedly stabbed to death by Burke who then allegedly cut her body into several pieces and stuffed it into bags, loading it into his Tesla.

Rivas’ parents watched in horror Tuesday as horrific images of her decapitated and mutilated corpse were displayed in a court.

The devastated couple were later spotted crying in the hall of the courthouse after viewing their daughter’s severed limbs, head, torso and fingers allegedly found in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla. 

An LAPD homicide detective provided disturbing details while testifying about finding Rivas’ body.

“There were maggots, there were flies,” recalled Detective Joshua Byers. “I don’t know how to describe the other liquid matter.”

The clothing in which Celeste Rivas was murdered was also revealed as her parents looked on.

Lisa Lahendro, an LAPD criminalist took the stand Thursday and described photographs shown of Rivas’ clothing that was discovered along with her body — including a Victoria’s Secret thong, a Forever 21 tube top and leggings.

Samantha Toch, a criminalist in the LAPD crime lab DNA unit also took the stand and said DNA and blood collected in Burke’s garage and the Tesla matched Rivas’.

Those areas included two blood stains in the Tesla trunk, and on items found in Burke’s garage including a green tarp, a rowing machine, black floor matting, and a Tesla charger. Burke’s DNA was found on the outside of a black trash bag. 

Cleaning hand wipes with Rivas’ blood were also discovered in the garage.  Toch testified that the likelihood that the blood was Rivas’ was 3 trillion percent.

Burke — was arrested in dramatic fashion on April 16 when he was removed from his home in handcuffs, surrounded by LAPD officers. 

The singer was also charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances — lying in wait, murder of a witness to an investigation and murder for financial gain 

He was also charged with lewd and lascivious sexual acts with an individual under 14 years old, and for mutilating the human remains of a body. 

The Preliminary hearing will determine whether Burke will go to trial. Los Angeles District Attorney says Burke faces the death penalty if convicted.
