Diplo Reveals He Has a 1-Year-Old Daughter in Family Vacation Photos

Diplo announced that he welcomed a fourth child, a girl, about a year ago.

An Instagram post of family vacation photos to Peru shared on Aug. 14 includes one of the producer holding a small child, whose face is covered with a red heart emoji. In the lengthy caption, he writes that “my daughter celebrated her first birthday with llamas wearing sunglasses.”

This is the first public mention of the producer’s daughter, his first girl. Diplo’s three other children are boys: Lockett, 15, and Lazer, 11, with his ex Kathryn Lockhart; and Pace, who was born in 2020, with model Jevon King. The producer has not revealed his daughter’s name, or who her mother is.

The family vacation photos also include images of Diplo’s dad, Thomas Pentz, and Lazer at Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain in the Andes and other excursions around the country. “This trip didnt fit anywhere in my schedule so I just tore it [sic] up the calender [sic] because I’ve missed things before telling myself there’d be a next time. there isn’t always,” he wrote in the caption.

“What gets me about the incas is that nobody told them it was impossible,” he continued. “no wheels, no shoes, some bulls–t uncooperative alpacas, no iron, no writing. They just eating corn, potatoes and guinea pig. and they cut stone the size of a car and set it so tight you can’t get a knife between the joints, dragged them halfway up a mountain. five hundred years ago. the churches the spanish built on top of them have cracked. the inca walls are still there. They had a very large idea of what was possible.

“dad asked a shaman if he’d find love again since my mother passed which is not a question i’ve ever heard him ask out loud. It was the vulnerable thing I’ve ever heard him say.. my daughter celebrated her first birthday with llamas wearing sunglasses …Lazer couldn’t find peru on a map a week ago and walked out of the airport in a poncho and an alpaca hat looking like he been selling ayuasca [sic] to backpackers .. watching your kid become someone new in real time is the whole thing.

“i always have a lot on,” noted Diplo, who so far has landed seven projects on the Billboard 200 and eight songs on the Billboard Hot 100. “But id rather lose sleep with my family then at a club or a rave this summer.. happiness is all just moments we collect and some of them sit at 15,000 feet, listening to a band play Los mirlos on a train to Cusco. The Shaman told my dad in Quechua that hes got love all around him . I fell asleep on the floor in my son’s lap in this old library where we passed around Guinea pig bones and coca leaves. But now its time to get back to work, this trip was worth reaching even thought it’s hard to reach.”
