Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick's son, Keelan, made his first trip to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Later, the 13-year-old shared an X post expressing his feelings on his first run at the big track and claimed to enjoy his run.
Harvick's son spent time competing in the Limited, Super, and Pro Late Models last year. Following his experience, the young talent had a decent qualifying session and qualified fifth for the All-American 100. However, after a redraw, he had to start the event from eighth place.
The young Harvick moved up and stayed in the top five drivers for most of the race. But later on the final restart, his tires lifted, and he lost some ground. Additionally, Kevin Harvick's son witnessed a wreck on the backstretch, leading to his eighth-place finish.
Despite finishing outside of the top five, Keelan Harvick enjoyed his day and wrote:
"Even tho we didn’t get the finish we wanted, my first time in a Late Model at Nashville Fairgrounds was pretty cool! I also got to check off another track Pops and I have both raced too!" "I qualified 5th, but had to start 8th with the redraw. I worked my way into the top five and stayed there most of the race. On the last restart, my back tires got lifted and I lost some ground, but it didn’t matter because the leaders got together and the front half of the field, me included, crashed. My @Rackley_WAR guys got me fixed up and I was able to finish 8th," he added.Kevin Harvick and his son often face each other on racetracks, and the young talent has been impressing people with his skills. Following that, Keelan Harvick will be seen competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the upcoming years.
"It's just so special": Kevin Harvick expressed his feelings on being bested by his son
In June 2025, Kevin Harvick and his son Keelan competed at the Kern Raceway. The young Harvick began the race from pole position, while the elder won the first half of the 150-lap race.
However, in the second half of the race, the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver was involved in a multi-car wreck with Jacob Gomes and others. Despite losing the race to his son, the former Cup Series champion enjoyed the experience of competing against his son.
Reflecting on that, Kevin Harvick told the media (via Shorttrackscene.com) :
"It’s just so special to be able to do what we’re doing right now. It’s not anything that I had really thought about or planned. And even though he kicks my butt, it’s fun to be on the same racetrack. It creates new conversations that we didn’t really have in Legends cars and go-karts. And just to see the progression. I think it happens faster when we’re racing together."Keelan Harvick had an intense battle with Kenna Mitchell in the final six laps of the 150-lap race. He held Mitchell well, defended his position, and won the event.
