Did Raiders just shut down Maxx Crosby trade idea?

1 hour ago 3

Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby has been a huge talking point of the offseason, and we bet that it won't stop anytime soon.

With Crosby reportedly disgruntled, there are some who think teams like the Dallas Cowboys could swoop in for the star pass rusher and lure him out of the AFC West.

But we know that players like Maxx don't come around too often, which makes a trade tough, but not impossible, with the franchise rumored to be wanting a Micah Parsons-like compensation of two first-round picks and a player.

But Raiders general manager John Spytek, in speaking at the scouting combine, might have just ended all of the trade speculation.

"Maxx is an elite player and I'm been very upfront that we're in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them," Spytek said via CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones. "It's hard to build a great team without elite players."

Crosby continues to be fascinating watch

In truth, Spytek can say all he wants about wanting Crosby to stay, but if a godfather-like offer comes in and Maxx isn't 100 percent sold on staying, then the franchise will be hard-pressed to say no.

Spytek is right, you can't build a great team without elite players, but as we know in the NFL, everything has a price, and for Crosby, it would be high.

Still, we know several teams are willing to take a flyer on Maxx, despite Spytek's comments.

And until this situation is resolved one way or another, Crosby and those trade talks will be the main headline of the offseason.
